The Department of Justice-Office of Cybercrime on Wednesday cautioned Facebook users tagged in a post containing a link to an adult video not to click it as it could activate malware.
“When clicked, it will result in the automatic and random tagging in the same post of other Facebook account users,” the DOJ-OOC said in an advisory.
“If you happen to get a notification tagging you in a post that contains a link to an apparent adult content, do not click any further and report the post,” it added.
The DOJ’s anti-cybercrime body confirmed that the page linked to the malicious tagging has already been removed.
Its administrators have also been sanctioned, the agency said.
Republic Act No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 penalizes offenses against the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of computer data and systems through the introduction or transmission of viruses.
“Let’s all be good netizens and practice the responsible use of social media,” the agency said.
