Former President Joseph Estrada celebrated his 84th birthday in a hospital on Monday as he was transferred to a regular room from intensive care following a bout with pneumonia caused by COVID-19.
Ex-senator Jinggoy Estrada, the former leader’s son, said “Erap” was doing well and was brought to a regular room at around noon.
“All his vital signs are already normal; his oxygen flow is already normal. His blood pressure has already been stabilized. That’s why the doctor says he can be transferred to a regular room today,” Jinggoy said in an interview on ANC.
Jinggoy, a former actor and mayor like the elder Estrada, said he would visit his father to bring a birthday cake and greet him. A video and photo grab from his Facebook account later proved this.
Last week, Estrada was brought back to the intensive care unit after his physicians found a superimposed bacterial lung infection.
On April 13, Estrada already tested negative for COVID-19.
