Actor teams up with Multisys to launch Dingdong delivery, e-commerce service

Actor Jose Sixto “Dingdong” Dantes III on Monday launched a new technology company in partnership with software enterprise solutions company Multisys Technologies Corp. led by David Almirol Jr. to provide a platform that unifies the online marketplace with logistics.

Dantes said the delivery service is one of the three products offered by Dingdong by Doorbell Technologies Inc.—a local technology solutions company that aims to empower and enable individuals, businesses and communities. The two other services under the brand are electronic commerce and marketplace, which use Multipay—the payment solution developed by Multisys.

“We have already onboarded close to 100 riders under the pilot stage,” said Dantes, who serves as chief executive of Dingdong and chairman of YesPinoy Foundation.

“When the pandemic happened, we realized that the time is ripe to open new doors,” he said. “We started working with riders from the entertainment industry who were the most affected. We saw opportunities in the delivery service.”

“There’s an opportunity here to fill the business gaps that I myself as a businessman has experienced. And Dingdong can play a big role in filling those gaps,” he said.

Among the partners and executives of Dingdong are chief operating officer Raffy Maramag, chief marketing officer Sid Maderazo, chief revenue officer ranvel rufino, senior adviser Joey Gurango and senior business development manager Vicki Dantes.

Dantes did not specify the capital infused in the venture, but said, “we have a sufficient amount of investment that can generate us throughout the next couple of years. That is the reason why it is important for us to sustain growth. Together with the growth is our capacity and capability to partner with more people,” he said.

“Our goal is to have an ROI [return on investment] in less than three years so that we can grow our business according to our mission,” he said.

Dantes said the delivery service generated double-digit growth on a monthly basis since it entered the pilot stage last year. “We have already generated tens of thousands of deliveries for our merchants. On a month-on-month basis, we have 40-percent growth per month through our deliveries,” he said.

“We envision to have around 5,000 trained and active riders all throughout the Philippines in the next three to five years. Our goal is to have around 4,000 active merchants who have a significant progress in terms of their bottomline in the next three to five years,” said Dantes.

“We would like to be present and active in at least 50 communities across the country, and when I say communities, these include Facebook communities, Viber communities, marketplaces, and local government units,” he said.

Dantes said Dingdong was aiming to launch more products, services, and solutions in the coming months. “We are very grateful that Multisys believes in us. We are grateful that we have the same goal with Multisys in terms of enabling people,” he said.

“As Dingdong evolved, we realized we could do more than professionalizing riders and empowering merchants,” said Dantes.

Dingdong teamed up with Rotary Club of Makati and A1 Driving School to train and equip the riders. Dingdong riders are required to undergo holistic training that covers work-specific skills like road safety, first aid, proper food handling and life-enhancement skills like financial management and spiritual fortitude.

He said that with Dingdong Delivery, companies have access to a web- and app-based pick-up and delivery tool that it can use for on-demand and pre-booked deliveries using Dingdong riders or the company’s own rider fleet.

Dingdong Delivery also comes with user-friendly tools that allow real-time management of riders by providing tracking data on delivery status, estimated times, traffic, and rider location.

Dingdong will soon launch its partnership with Tarlac province to employ tricycle drivers in the delivery service.

Meanwhile, Dingdong E-Commerce enables entrepreneurs to promote and sell products in an online marketplace with user-friendly tools that automate the management of products, inventory and orders.

“By offering a web of solutions that is user-friendly and efficient, we enable more businesses and create more jobs, transforming lives through technology and excellent service on a much larger scale,” Dantes said.
