City of San Fernando—Tons of footwear and 5,000 sacks of well-milled rice were donated to the provincial government by a private firm engaged in hazardous wastes collection and disposal services in Central Luzon.
Joel Mapiles, head of the Provincial Information Office, said the goods will form part of the provincial government aid to its constituents who were economically displaced by the household lockdown due to the sudden surge of coronavirus cases in Pampanga.
“A good-hearted businessman Robert Gaza, owner of the DiGaMa, hazardous and solid wastes disposal services with business address in Porac town, brought four truckloads of rice and assorted footwear as a donation to the people of the province,” said Mapiles while citing other business groups who had come forward to donate and pledge their support to Governor Dennis Pineda’s health programs.
Gaza, a businessman who has ventured in the aquaculture industry in Guagua, Pampanga, says the donation is part of the company’s sustained corporate social responsibility not only in Pampanga but also in other provinces within Central Luzon.
“Tutulungan ng DiGaMa ang mga naapektuhan ng lockdown sa abot ng aming munting makakaya,” said gaza over the phone.
The donation was received by the Provincial Administrator lawyer Charlie Chua during simple rites at the Capitol grounds Tuesday. The event was witnessed by other provincial officials and department heads.
Mapile said the governor and vice governor Lilia Pineda and Provincial Board Members expressed their thanks for the kind-heartedness demonstrated by different business groups to the people of Pampanga.
DiGaMa Wastes Disposal Services is the only solid waste management company in Central Luzon accredited by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
