Lee’s dominant run extended at ‘ONE On TNT II’

There’s no stopping Christian “The Warrior” Lee from cementing his status as ONE Championship’s most dominant World Champion after yet another impressive performance.

The ONE Lightweight World Champion made short work of #3-ranked contender Timofey Nastyukhin in the main event of the previously-recorded “ONE on TNT II,” which aired on Thursday, April 15.

Lee needed less than 90 seconds to finish the hard-hitting Russian, as he proved that he’s got power in his hands as well.

With Nastyukhin coming forward for a right hook, Lee ducked and countered with a short left hook that wobbled the challenger and allowed Lee to rain down one uncontested punch after another.

More than 10 punches later, referee Mohammad Sulaiman had no choice but to stop the bout, giving Lee another impressive stoppage victory, this time at the 1:13 mark of the first round.

“He’s a dangerous opponent. He likes to go in there and he likes to go for a knockout. Our game plan was to capitalize on that. Speed and accuracy beats power—that’s what happened tonight,” Lee told Mitch Chilson after the match.

“This is something that my dad and my brother and I were drilling over and over just now in the back room. We were planning on ducking those punches, countering and going for the takedown. Thankfully, the punch landed clean, and I was able to secure the finish right there.”

It was an emotional win for Lee, who shared why he was so motivated to win the match—he wanted to welcome his daughter into the world as a World Champion dad.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better story, really. I trained for 10 really hard weeks leading up to this match. This was the most important fight of my life,” Lee said.

“Very soon, I’m gonna become a father, so this fight is dedicated to my baby girl and my wife, Katie, back at home. It’s very hard to go away and leave them, but later this month we’ll be having our first baby, so this fight was for them.”

In the co-main event, ONE Kickboxing Atomweight World Champion Janet “JT” Todd impressed anew in Muay Thai after scoring a third-round TKO win over Anne “Ninjaline” Line Hogstad.

It was a well-placed left kick to the liver that sent Hogstad down, as the referee counted her out to give Todd her second-straight win in the sport. With the victory, becoming a two-sport World Champion is certainly on the American’s radar.
