Skills training for displaced urban poor in NCR Plus

The Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor will continue to conduct capability building programs and livelihood training for the urban poor despite stricter lockdown measures due to a spike in COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila and neighboring provinces.

PCUP chairman and chief executive officer Alvin Feliciano said their target is to hold training and seminars for those who have lost their jobs and livelihoods during the pandemic.

The commission’s programs and projects should not be stopped for the marginalized sector who are out of reach or lack assistance, he said.

“They need our support even more now since it’s ECQ again. The commission will continue to assist with programs that will help them earn to survive daily,” Feliciano said.

“Seeing pandemic hit hard to urban poor communities, this year, we will start focusing even more on their recovery,” he added.

In the National Capital Region, urban poor members residing in Quezon City, Caloocan City and Malabon City are among the commission’s top targets.
