Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang is coming off a short break following a successful fight two months ago.

Adiwang wants to carry momentum of recent victory

After getting over his loss to Japanese fighter Hiroshi Minowa 14 months ago with a second-round victory over Namiki Kawahara last January, the mixed martial artist nicknamed “Thunder Kid” feels he is ready for the challenges of his next bout.

“Nu’ng binigay sa akin ang fight, ready na. Pinaghahandaan ko na,” said Adiwang, who is set to meet strawweight bet Jared Brooks in the undercard of “ONE on TNT II” on April 14 in Singapore.

Adiwang said he has had enough to get his bearings again after getting past Minowa.

Last Jan. 22, Adiwang made his victory memorable by dedicating it to his late mother, who passed away at the end of 2020.

Adiwang floored his debuting opponent with a left hook in the second round of their strawweight bout.

The 28-year-old Adiwang is keen on taking the momentum of that momentuous win in his coming battle with Brooks, also known as the “Monkey God.”

Adiwang said he has studied Brook’s style.

“Once na makuhanan ka ng magandang position, mahirap nang makawala. Ito, ine-expect ko sa kanya,” said Adiwang.

The 27-year-old Brooks is coming off  back-to-back wins, the last being a unanimous decision result over Haruo Ochi on Dec. 28 at the Bellator 237.

Last October, Brooks won by rear naked choke in 4:19 of the second round over Victor Altamirano at WXC 83.

Adiwang started as a member of the national boxing team and later saw action in the 2008 Asian Games.

A year later, he found another calling in wushu and has never looked back since then. Peter Atencio
