Imus isolation facility inaugurated

Imus, Cavite—The local government here has inaugurated a 5-storey, 141-room Mega COVID-19 Isolation Facility in Barangay Palico IV in time for the surge of coronavirus cases in the country.

Imus Mayor Manny Maliksi, together with Dr. Armida Camposagrado of the Department of Health, City Health Officer Dr. Randy Calingasan, and City Administrator Emoy Franciaco, led the blessing of Saint Dympha Isolation Facility in partnership with Chinese Business partners Jacky and Bea Chan.

The new COVID facility will start operating in a week’s time. The buildings can accommodate around 584 patients in 143 regular rooms and 6 family rooms, with comfort rooms, Wi-Fi, televisions, and beds.

According to Mayor Maliksi, the facility will accept patients rated as asymptomatic in isolation area, and a stepdown area for the patients who need more days in isolation but have already tested negative in an RT-PCR test.

“Medyo minadali na namin para magamit na naten, dahil sa patuloy na surge ng COVID sa Imus at sa ating bansa,” Maliksi said in an interview.

“Our six hospitals here in Imus have already reached the full capacity, including the Ospital ng Imus, kaya po I advise my fellow Imuseños to stay at their respective houses, follow the guidelines given by Inter-Agency Task Force and the LGU, lalo na ngayong ECQ Holy Week,” he added.

Imus City has a total 3,971 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 702 active cases as of March 28. Barangay Buhay na Tubig has the highest number of active cases at 47, followed by Barangay Pasong Buaya 2 with 44 active cases, according to the Imus City Health Office.

Around 2,547 healthcare frontliners have already received Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines provided by the DoH.
