Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte “can easily continue the country’s gains” if she is elected as the next president, Davao Oriental Rep. Joel Mayo Almario said Sunday.
He said surveys “consistently” showed the presidential daughter topping the presidential race in the 2022 national and local polls.
“This is another clear manifestation of the people’s support to the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte, who enjoys unprecedented high approval ratings,” noted Almario, a member of the ruling PDP-Laban party.
He said there is a clamor for the President to continue as Chief Executive, but because of the constitutional prohibition limiting his term, Duterte’s daughter is the next best choice to carry on the administration’s fight against corruption and illegal drugs and push for national economic recovery through the “Build Build Build” program.
“Like her father, Sara is an avid big biker, a lawyer and a mayor. Like her father, she is strong-willed, determined and fierce in defending the people. Like her father, she has been a vice mayor of Davao City and is currently its mayor,” he said.
“Like her father, she is held dear to the hearts of the Mindanaoans. Following the people’s sentiments and mass movements nationwide appealing for Mayor Sara to run for the presidency, she will be like her father who served Davao City as Mayor and later became the President of the republic,” Almario said.
“In fact, she may turn out to be a more dynamic president, given her age and political experience,” he added.
