Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) flew more COVID-19 vaccine shipments to Zamboanga and Tuguegarao, part of the second batch of shipments received by these provinces.
CEB transported the cargo on March 10 and 12. The airline carried the first batch of 21,000 doses on March 5, it said in a statement.
The second batch comprises around 32,000 doses (about 20,000 for Zamboanga and about 12,000 for Tuguegarao).
The vaccines were stored in a refrigerated storage container and were handled with utmost precision to ensure its conditions are preserved up until its release at the local destinations, the airline said.
To date, CEB has already flown around 53,000 doses to both cities.
“We are happy to continue supporting the distribution of vaccines across the archipelago. Rest assured we will keep doing what we can to ensure the successful rollout of our country’s vaccination program,” said Alex Reyes, president and chief executive officer of CebGo, the sister airline of CEB.
Also on March 10, Philippine Airlines transported from Manila shipments of AstraZeneca and CoronaVac vaccines.
The flag carrier has flown a total of 25,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines and 17,030 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines to the provinces of Legazpi, Cebu, Iloilo, Tacloban, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cotabato, and Davao.
The latest transport brings to 187,230 the total number of vaccine doses carried by PAL to different regions of the country, according to PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna.
