Volkswagen Philippines said Friday it plans to bring a new model to the Philippine automotive market as part of efforts to regain opportunities lost in 2020 when the pandemic stalled automotive sales and almost all active businesses and enterprises.
Volkswagen president Felipe Estrella said Volkswagen T-Cross would be the brand’s first sub-compact sports utility vehicle to be brought to the Philippines.
“This is a car—a vehicle that the Philippines team have worked hard to secure and to bring to the Philippine shores. We’ll follow our way to zero campaign and adhere to the brand-new Volkswagen aspiration of being more than one thing,” Estrella said in a virtual briefing.
He said T-Cross would be available in the local market by the second quarter of 2021.
“If things materialize as planned, we hope to bring in another model in the third quarter and possibly a fourth one in the last quarter,” Estrella said.
