The Department of Public Works and Highways will open the P11.81 billion new toll-free Central Luzon Link Expressway (CLLEX) from Tarlac to Aliaga, Nueva Ecija in May.
Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said in the next 90 days, the 18-km section from the connection of Subic Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and Tarlac-Pangasinan Link Expressway (TPLEX) in Balingcanaway, Tarlac City up to the Aliaga Interchange of the CLLEX Project Phase 1 will be substantially completed.
Villar said the four-lane 30-km CLLEX Phase 1 will cut travel time between Tarlac City and Cabanatuan City from 1 hour and 10 minutes to just 20 minutes.
“The 4.10 km Tarlac Section and 6.40 km Rio Chico River Bridge Section, including 1.5 km Rio Chico Viaduct are already completed while the 9.20 km Aliaga Section and 10.30 km Cabanatuan Section are 78.46 and 85.04 percent accomplished, respectively,” Villar said.
An additional 4.8 km component of the expressway project from the junction of Carmen-Cabanatuan Road is the Zaragoza Interchange Section.
“We are seeing a quality infrastructure that will benefit around 11,200 motorists and commuters daily and ease traffic at Daang Maharlika Highway about to be delivered by the Duterte administration,” Villar added.
The new expressway is part of the mega projects under the administration’s Build, Build, Build program aimed at developing provinces through connective infrastructure.
It will also help farmers from the Philippines’ rice granary of Nueva Ecija in delivering their crops to markets in Central Luzon and Metro Manila.
