Mariveles, Bataan—The Sangguniang Bayan Bayan Mariveles led by Vice Mayor Lito Rubia wants the 14 projects that have been funded during the past administration be carried out this year.
“There was already P18 million plus supplemental budget for the 14 projects in the municipality in 2019 during the term of former mayor AJ Concepion," Councilor Tito Catipon said.
“There was a change of administration, Mayor Jocelyn Castaneda asked that the fund be realigned to other projects, and she said that allocation would be made in 2020 by way of supplemental budget or a portion of P200-million loan,” the councilor narrated.
“But there was no allocation made last year. The mayor said the budget will come from 2021 20 percent development fund but again there is none,” the councilor said.
“The mayor said this time the fund will come from 2021 supplemental budget,” Catipon said.
“These projects were requested by barangay officials, they are anticipating these projects will be implemented. They know that these projects have been funded,” said Councilor Joey Carandang during SB Mariveles budget hearing.
“What explanation we will say to them if these projects do not push through?” the councilor asked.
Municipal Engineer Ildefonso Tarriela said in the budget hearing the contractors of the projects already backed out.
