Yanson executive tightens control of transport business

Leo Rey Yanson, who was re-elected as the chairman and president of Bachelor Express Inc., tightens his control over the family-owned Yanson Group of Bus Companies.

Leo Rey Yanson was re-appointed chairman and president of BEI during its annual stockholders meeting on Jan. 17, along with Yanson matriarch Olivia Yanson as corporate secretary and treasurer.

Other members of the board of directors who were re-elected during the meeting are Ginnette Yanson Dumancas, Charles Dumancas, Rey Ardo, Arvin John Villaruel, Anita Chua, Daniel Nicolas Golez,  Hernan Omecillo, Danny Lorenton and Alfredo Ligo Jr.

“Despite the challenges faced in 2020, yhe Yanson Group of Bus Companies remains strong and resilient.  It continues to be steadfast in its goal to serve the Filipino people.  YGBC remains committed to providing the riding public with the most reliable means of public transportation for all” Leo Rey Yanson said in a statement.

YGBC is a family-controlled business that operates thousands of buses in the Philippines through its seven subsidiaries. Bachelor Express Inc. is one of the three subsidiaries serving the island of Mindanao. The other two are Mindanao Bus Transport Inc. and Rural Transit Mindanao Inc.

The other subsidiaries are Vallacar Transit Inc., Ceres Transport Inc., Southern Star Bus Transport Inc. and Sugbo Transit Inc.

The board said it is excited to see how they can continue to push boundaries to provide quality transportation to every Filipino despite the challenges of the pandemic.

The company said that despite the proper and timely notice given, stockholders Roy Yanson, Ricardo Yanson Jr., Emily Yanson and Ma. Lourdes Celina Yanson-Lopez did not attend the meeting.
