Camp Tolentino, Bataan—Bataan police director Police Col. Joel K. Tampis vowed to maintain integrity as he serves as the highest police official in his home province.
“Some personalities that maybe involved in crime are known to me, or close acquaintances, or even friends. But this is my job, my profession and I have to maintain my integrity,” he vowed in his recent first press briefing with local newsmen since occupying the post.
“Trabaho lang tayo dito,” the police official said who is a native of Mariveles town.
Tampis said there are also advantages being a native of Bataan. “I am familiar with the terrain the people to talk to regarding certain police issues in the locality are known to me; and I have ideas of drugs personalities in the area”.
He vowed to work hard to eradicate all kinds of criminalities including illegal drugs in the province.
“Gagawin natin lahat para masugpo kriminalidad kasama na illegal drugs,” he said.
Tampis said crime rate in the province continues to go down since he assumed office on September 30.
He was former chief of police of Bataan towns of Abucay, Mariveles, and Balanga.
