Clark Freeport — The Clark Development Corporation has joined other relief agencies in the distribution of food aid to victims of recent typhoons that hit Pampanga and rest of Central Luzon.
A total of 2,000 boxes of relief goods amounting to P700,000 were distributed by CDC to local government units and communities surrounding the Freeport zone.
With its aim to provide help for victims of Typhoon “Ulysses,” the state-owned firm donated essential items and food packs to the local government units (LGUs) of Angeles City, Mabalacat City, and the municipality of Porac, Pampanga as well as the municipalities of Bamban and Capas in Tarlac.
Each LGU received 400 boxes of relief goods which are intended to be distributed to affected families in their respective communities. The boxes of relief items include assorted and ready-to-eat canned goods, instant noodles, coffee, and three kilos of rice.
CDC Officer-in-Charge Engr. Mariza O. Mandocdoc led the distribution together with the staff from External Affairs Division (EAD), CDC officers, volunteers, and members of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) Reserve Command.
Meanwhile, Mayors Reynaldo Catacutan of Capas, Tarlac and Jaime Capil of Porac, Pampanga personally received the items at their town halls. Representatives from Angeles City, Mabalacat City and Bamban, Tarlac also received the relief items during the turn-over activity.
The activity, with a theme “Unity Amidst Calamity,” is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program of CDC, which aims to uplift the lives of its adjacent communities and at the same time, promote inclusive development for all.
Other CSR projects of the state-owned firm are geared towards health, education, livelihood, special projects and partnerships with both private and public sectors.
The provincial government of Pampanga also brought food and non-food items to flooded communities in the province.
Governor Dennis Pineda led a caravan of relief goods over the weekend as floodwaters engulfed more than a hundred of low-lying and coastal villages of the province taking advantage of fair weather condition.
The governor is also planning to bring food and non-food aid to Tuguegarao City in Cagayan province.
