Vizcaya closes capitol for disinfection work

Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya—Governor Carlos Padilla has ordered the temporary closure of the provincial capitol for a week due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A few provincial capitol employees were earlier found positive for the coronavirus, prompting Padilla to issue the temporary closure order from October 23 to October 30 for both provincial and national government offices within the capitol building to pave way for the disinfection activities.

“This will allow us to disinfect all buildings and facilities within the provincial capitol compound and to contact trace and test our employees who had close contact with COVID-19 positive patients,” he said.

Padilla said all employees of the provincial government within the capitol compound shall not report to work during the temporary closure period.

However, employees of the Provincial Integrated Health Office, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, provincial hospitals, and provincial jail and security personnel are excluded from the order.

Padilla also advised national government agencies to adopt their own alternative work arrangements, while work-from-home provincial government workers were advised to make themselves available for consultation on various social media platforms.
