Globe Telecom Inc. said Wednesday it is expanding its Voice Over Long Term Evolution technology nationwide to allow customers to simultaneously surf the Internet and make voice calls while enjoying clearer and improved mobile calls.
VoLTE is a standard high-speed wireless communication for mobile phones using 4G LTE instead of the traditional circuit-switched voice networks being used by 2G and 3G.
“We’ve seen growth in voice calls during this time as more people do things remotely, so we are constantly evolving to provide new ways of enabling our customers. With VoLTE, we’re not only providing our customers with quality calls but also the ability to do more,” said Globe chief commercial officer Albert de Larrazabal.
Globe said it had fully enabled VoLTE in the National Capital Region, Rizal, Bulacan and Cavite.
VoLTE utilizes 4G LTE and has up to three times more voice capacity than 3G and up to six times more than 2G.
