Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya—Board Member Victor Gines here has proposed the organization of “Disipilina Brigades” in the 275 barangays of the province to ensure the implementation of health protocols to prevent COVID-19 transmission.
“These “Barangay Disiplina Brigades” will enforce the various laws, LGU issuances and the provisions of our Provincial Ordinances pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic. The BDBs will also slap violators with penalties based on various issuances in mitigating the effects of the COVID-19,” he said.
The BDB proposal was endorsed for immediate action in the provincial board during the recent meeting of the Provincial COVID-19 Task Force at the Pasalubong Center.
Gines, also the President of the Liga ng mga Barangay in the province expressed optimism that his proposal will get the approval of his colleagues in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP).
Governor Carlos Padilla said the BDB is needed in this time to instill proper discipline among other Novo Vizcayanos who still regard the COVID-19 pandemic as an ordinary illness.
“This will also advocate and instill consciousness among our villagers on the threat of COVID-19 and their role to follow the minimum health protocols to ensure their safety and security,” he said.
Padilla said the institutionalization of the BDB in the province will also compel other villagers to follow the health protocols which was adopted through a Provincial Board Ordinance.
As of September 23, Nueva Vizcaya has 498 Total Confirmed Cases, 266 Total Active Cases, 218 Total Recovered Cases and 14 Deaths.
Padilla however expressed hope that the number of COVID-19 cases will go down soon with the recent conduct of Mass Swabbing activities by the Department of Health (DOH) and 5 municipalities of the province.
The Mass Swabbing was conducted to stop the local transmission of COVID-19 in the said municipalities especially in Solano, Bayombong, Bagabag, Aritao and Dupax del Sur.
