Remulla: We will roll out free wifi

Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla announced Tuesday his province would soon roll out a free wifi system, which would cover 90 percent of its residential areas.

Remulla, in a statement, said "the path forward should be led by a government that shall invest in the capabilities of the people to be part of a very dynamic and progressive Knowledge Revolution."

For this reason, he said the government should also invest in speeding up the infrastructure for Broadband as well as changing the "Internet of Things."

To underline this, Remulla said Cavite would soon start a massive rollout of the free wifi system, to cover 90 percent of the residential areas of the province.

"During the ongoing quarantine period, the #CaviteFreeWiFi system shall be purely utilized for the educational requirements of public school or DepEd students which they can access using their ID number," he said.

"Once the economy overcome(s) its present challenges, the internet infrastructure can then be used as a tool for research, connectivity, online retail, and knowledge generation," he added.

Remulla also hoped "the internet should be a right and not a privilege."

As much as the country has invested in infrastructure through the build bulid build Program, Remulla said the government should also accelerate the infrastructure for Broadband as well as the transformative “internet of things.”
