Balanga City, Bataan—The Bataan provincial government said the provincial liquor ban passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP), one way to counter the spread of COVID-19, is still in effect.

The provincial board presided over by Vice Gov. Cris Garcia adopted the liquor ban resolution on May 6.

The ordinance was unanimously approved by the members of the SP led by Garcia, and will continue to be effective until such time the provincial board would adopt another resolution ceasing the ban’s implementation, according to the advisory issued by the provincial government.

"For the purpose of strict physical distancing and promoting health practices, I authored the provincial liquor ban ordinance," said Board Member Popoy Del Rosario earlier.

"I always take guidance from Vice Gov. Garcia and my other colleagues at the provincial board in drafting ordinances I am authoring," he added. Butch Gunio

The provincial liquor ban ordinance supersedes similar ordinances passed at municipal level, noted Del

Rosario.

The provincial government reiterated its call to residents to broaden their understanding and strictly

follow regulations and protocols in fighting the coronavirus pandemic.
