Clark Freeport—Irish Calaguas has been appointed Vice President for Airport Operations and Management Group of the Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC), airport authorities announced Monday.
Calaguas was former Deputy Director General for Administration of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, where she worked with current CIAC President and CEO Aaron N. Aquino.
The CIAC Board approved Calaguas’ appointment as VP, which was left vacant following the designation of Aquino as the government firm’s president.
Also a former journalist before joining the government service, Calaguas was the executive assistant of former three-term Angeles City Mayor Carmelo F. Lazatin.
She managed Biotop Philippines Agriculture Co. Inc., a multimillion-peso agro feed mill company owned by the Lazatin family in City of San Fernando, Pampanga, in 2013 after Lazatin retired.
Calaguas has a degree in Political Science and Communications from New Era University. She also earned her Masters of Education from Philippine Women’s University and is now taking up Masters in Business Administration at New Era.
She is also a holder of an open water diver license and has 68 hours of private pilot flying time.
In September 19, 2017, she was appointed Chief of Staff of the PDEA under the Office of the President.
The Aquino-Calaguas tandem in CIAC is seen to boost the morale of the airport firm’s rank and file, given their expertise in personnel development and management.
