Rock band IV Of Spades (IVOS) releases a new single titled “Sariling Mundo (Sa Panaginip)” under Warner Music Philippines.
Being very prudent about the material they put out, the trio’s new single is another feather on their cap.
"It was strange at first but I do think that music helps some people to get through rough times,” vocalist Zild Benitez said of their move to release a new record in the midst of a pandemic.
"I don’t see anything strange about releasing music during these times. If anything, people have clung themselves more to music and arts as entertainment and comfort lately," guitarist Blaster Silonga added.
“Sariling Multo (Sa Panaginip)” offers a neat reintroduction to IVOS' music, with a more rock-heavy instrumentation and an obvious departure from its previous tracks. The track explores letting go of old hurts, facing your demons, and being true to yourself.
"It was one of the songs that started the upcoming album. Sonic State Audio (Christopher and Bri) mixed, mastered, and engineered this song. We’ve been working with them since 2017," Zild explained.
Taking their time proved to be very effective. Despite having a limited discography, “Sariling Mundo (Sa Panaginip)” still strikes a chord in the hearts of their old and new followers. The music itself is enough to warrant a play.
IVOS built a following with its multi-dimensional game plan. Its distinctiveness, particularly their outfit and personal branding coupled with excellent musicianship, electronic production, and songwriting makes the group the emerging stars that they are.
With the band’s earlier releases reminiscent of old Manila Sound and the music the members (or their parents) grew up with, IVOS continues to bring something different to the local landscape and this fits in with its strategy to win over fans with their live performances, and enjoy the IV Of Spades experience.
