True to the bayanihan spirit, various plants of Pepsi Cola Products Philippines Inc. (PCPPI)—the exclusive manufacturer of PepsiCo beverages in the country—are initiating donation drives for the benefit of the country’s unsung frontline heroes who are manning checkpoints during the time of the coronavirus pandemic.

Thousands of cases of hydration drinks including Premier Water, Gatorade, and Pepsi have been donated to local government units and checkpoints by the plants in North Luzon, Central Luzon, Cagayan Valley, Bacolod, Davao, Cagayan De Oro, Zamboanga, Metro Manila, and Southern Tagalog Region.

The business units in North and Central Luzon, Bacolod, and Zamboanga also deployed tents for use at checkpoints.

“PCPPI has always maintained our dedication to our countrymen, especially when they would need assistance in times of crisis. This initiative of our plants across the country proves that we are all in this together, helping each other as we hope to save lives, and win against this virus as one,” said PCPPI president and CEO Frederick D. Ong.

In Davao, PCPPI also distributed gallons of alcohol and masks to frontliners in various checkpoints in the City.

The Davao Plant also delivered additional cases of Pepsi drinks in 600ml and 2.5L sizes to Hospital workers in Southern Medical Philippines and various frontliners manning inter-barangay and city boundary checkpoints in Boulevard, Panacan, Baliok, Catigan, Lasang, and Calinan.

“This is an example of great people giving great products to great and courageous frontliners,” Ong added.

PCPPI earlier announced that since the company is engaged in the business of manufacturing and distribution of basic commodities—such as water and other beverages—it is tasked to continuously operate its manufacturing plants to be able to produce and deliver its products to areas that would need them most.

“As we would need the services of some of our people to heed the call of the government to ensure that basic commodities, including some of our products, are delivered and made accessible to the Filipino people, PCPPI implemented various flexible work arrangements,” Ong said.

“We have a skeletal workforce to support select line operations. This is still in keeping with our commitment to deliver high-quality products to our countrymen at this difficult time,” he added.
