Camp, Pampanga—Government anti-narcotics agents busted a well-entrenched illegal drug group operating in Manila and Bulacan following the arrest of four of its alleged members and the seizure of P11.5 million of shabu in Meycauayan City and in Manila on Monday.
Police Brig. Gen. Rhodel O. Sermonia, Central Luzon police director, identified the suspects as Jonard Halili, 25, alias Bill; Erwin Borrinaga, 18, alias Junior, both of Barangay Pantoc, Meycauayan City; and Mirko Francis Beringuel, 21, alias Micro, and Marlon Macarangal, 22, both of Pasay City.
Sermonia said two of the suspects were arrested during a buy-bust operation in Bulacan, while the others were collared during a follow-up operation that ended along TM Kalaw Street in Manila.
Seized from Halili and Borrinaga were seven transparent plastic bags of shabu weighing about 1.5 kilograms with an estimated street value of P10.2 million, according to the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), Sermonia said.
Meycauayan City Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) operatives then motored straight to Luneta Park Grandstand at Bgy. 666, Zone 72, District 5 in Manila where four plastic transparent bags carrying about 200 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P1.36 million were seized from Macarangal and Beringuel.
Sermonia attributed the latest accomplishment to the sustained campaign against illegal drugs launched by the police as part of the government’s drug war. He commended the policemen who formed part of the operations.
The Central Luzon PNP chief also encouraged the public to support the government in combating illegal drugs to make their areas drug-free communities during a press conference held at the PANA Hall at the regional police headquarters.
The suspects were brought to Meycauayan City police headquarters for further investigation as violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act is being readied against them.
