Bouncing with ‘Rebound’

What a difference a year makes. After its breakout hit “Kahit Ayaw Mo Na,” This Band’s career has improved by leaps and bounds in just a short time.

The group–with lead singer Andrea Manzano, main songwriter-guitarist Euwie Von Loria, bassist Miccael Galvan, drummer  John Macaranas, lead guitarist Raymat Gubat, and keyboardist Melvin Carso—has now grown its pop oeuvre with equally compelling songs such as ”‘Di Na Babalik,” “Hindi Na Nga,” “Nang Iwan,” and “Di Sapat Pero Tapat,”

Adding to its growing catalogue are several awards and recognition such as the band’s 2019 nod for Best Performance By A Group at the Awit Awards and acing the New Group-Artist Of The Year plum at the PMPC, This Band has really gone places.

Now for the group’s latest, band members further prove that they are also the de facto ‘hugot’ music spokespersons of their generation with the release of their new single entitled “Rebound.”

Listeners of This Band of course would know of the group’s propensity to tackle such themes as heard on their previous hits.

The band definitely knows how to deal with the kind of relationship troubles one can relate to by simply encapsulating all the “hugot and feels”  in every music it makes.

As the title suggests, “Rebound” is about a stop-gap relation destined to end in heartbreak. It tackles how even the most sensible people lose their composure especially when it comes to matters of the heart.

But “Rebound” is not your mushy, cry-fest ballad that wants to capitalize on a listener’s misery. The track is in fact a go get-em, keyboard-heavy, pop rocker that one would want to rock to as one exorcises those wretched experiences said succinctly in this sample lyric: Mga gabing napuyat sana’y tinulog ko na lang/ at ngayo’y buhay ay makalat, sana’y naghanap na ng iba / iba pang mga gagawin at sarili ayusin / marupok na puso ko, ako ay layuan mo.

This Band dropped the new song on Feb. 1 on a special gig entitled This Jam: This Band Single Launch at the All Home Las Pinas rooftop. The mini-concert included mini sets by Janine Tenoso, John Roa, Miss Ramonne, and band Kuatro Kantos, PAR, Out Of Order, and Pusakalye.
