Atimonan Windkraft Corp (AWC) is proposing to construct and operate a 100 megawatt wind power project in Atimonan, Quezon with an estimated investment of P10 billion.
Documents submitted to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources showed the project will span 1,539 hectares across seven barangays including Balugohin, Sokol, Rizal, Caridad Ibaba, Caridad Ilaya, Villa Ilaya and Villa Ibaba.
The developer plans to install 13 wind turbine generators with a capacity of 8 megawatts each to optimize power generation while minimizing the number of installations.
The company said this approach supports efficient land use and helps limit land disturbance and habitat fragmentation within the defined contract area. The project is expected to provide additional capacity for households, commercial establishments and industrial users.
“Overall, the proposed project is fully consistent with the Philippines’ renewable energy transition and directly supports the shift toward cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. The proponent is committed to advancing national renewable energy goals and ensuring that the project is aligned with the Philippine Energy Plan and broader national development strategies,” the company said.
The project is expected to generate 200 jobs during the construction phase and between 50 and 100 jobs during operations. Construction is targeted to begin in the first quarter of 2027, with commercial operations estimated to start in the first quarter of 2029.
