THE Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) and the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP) have formalized a partnership aimed at accelerating the enforcement of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda in the Philippines.
The partners signed a memorandum of understanding on March 11 at the GNWP office in the UN Church Center in New York City.
Under the agreement, OPAPRU and GNWP will collaborate to strengthen local capacities, expand women’s leadership in peacebuilding, and ensure that national commitments on Women, Peace and Security are translated into concrete programs at the community level.
The partnership supports the implementation of Executive Order No. 865, which directs the National Steering Committee on Women, Peace and Security to work closely with civil society organizations in implementing and monitoring the country’s National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security.
