Holcim Philippines, in partnership with the Swiss Embassy and the Department of Education, celebrated the Day of the Future on November 13 and 27 at its Head Office in Taguig City and at its plants in La Union, Bulacan, Lugait, and Davao. The initiative welcomed a total of 170 students from five elementary schools across its host communities.
The Swiss-inspired tradition encourages young Filipino learners to explore future career paths and understand how sustainable business practices contribute to progress for both people and the planet.
This year, students from Pembo Elementary School visited Holcim’s Head Office to participate in hands-on learning sessions with the company’s key functions, including health and safety, sustainability and geocycle, finance and supply chain, and commercial operations.
The program culminated in a drawing activity, and a Q&A session with Holcim Philippines’ chief sustainability officer Jill Ramos and chief people officer Roda Ortiz, who shared personal career experiences and insights on how responsible businesses shape a sustainable future.
“Through the Day of the Future, we hope to inspire the next generation to dream big and see how their talents can help shape a more sustainable world. Progress is built not only through innovation but also through care for people and the planet,” said Ramos.
Meanwhile, Holcim’s plants in Bulacan, La Union, Lugait, and Davao hosted plant tours and hands-on educational activities aligned with the event’s objectives.
“We are truly honored and thankful to be chosen as a host school. Our students greatly enjoyed the activities and learned new ideas. We hope initiatives like this continue to inspire other organizations to nurture the dreams of young learners,” said Teacher Noemi Hamor, linkages and partnerships coordinator at Pembo Elementary School.
