Taylor Swift spreads holiday cheer with multimillion-dollar charity donations

Award-winning singer-songwriter Taylor Swift marked the Christmas season with a series of major charitable donations, giving at least $1 million each to multiple organizations supporting hunger relief, heart health, and the music community.

On Tuesday, Dec. 23, nonprofit group Feeding America confirmed that Taylor donated $1 million to support its efforts to combat hunger across the United States. The organization said the gift comes on top of the $5 million Swift previously contributed for hurricane relief.

“Her continued support is a powerful reminder of what is possible when we unite to end hunger,” Feeding America CEO Claire L. Babineaux-Fontenot said in a statement.

On the same day, the American Heart Association announced Taylor also donated $1 million in honor of her father, Scott Swift, who underwent quintuple bypass surgery earlier this year. AHA CEO Nancy Brown said the donation would help raise awareness about cardiovascular disease, which affects nearly half of American adults.

The “Opalite” singer also extended her generosity to the music industry. MusiCares, the charitable arm of the Recording Academy, confirmed receiving a donation from Taylor to support financial assistance and wellness programs for music professionals.

The Academy of Country Music also recognized her contribution to its Lifting Lives initiative, which supports country artists who are struggling with health issues.
