President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. thanked Rossana Fajardo for delivering essential accounting services as an Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) member, underscoring the administration’s push for a more honest, transparent, and responsive government.
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Dave Gomez said Friday that Fajardo has completed the specific financial forensic work she was assigned to carry out for the fact-finding body.
“The President thanks Ms. Fajardo for her service and for helping ensure that public funds are properly accounted for,” Gomez said, describing the effort as part of the administration’s broader drive to make the government “more honest, more transparent, and more responsive to the needs of the people.”
Gomez said Fajardo was engaged under a clearly defined and time-bound mandate to closely examine funds linked to infrastructure projects under investigation and help trace the movement of public money.
“That work is now finished,” he said.
He said Fajardo’s findings will be incorporated into the ICI’s recommendations to the Office of the Ombudsman and will also be turned over to relevant government agencies, including the Commission on Audit, to support further action.
Gomez stressed that the investigation is continuing, with the ICI focusing in the coming months on completing its final reports and ensuring the proper handover of documents to agencies tasked with pursuing accountability, including the Ombudsman.
PCO Undersecretary Claire Castro also acknowledged Fajardo’s contribution, describing her role as “vital” in gathering, reviewing and assessing key financial evidence related to allegedly anomalous flood control projects.
Castro said Fajardo had completed her mandate, adding that investigations by other bodies are ongoing and that the administration’s campaign against corruption remains in force.
The ICI was created to examine infrastructure-related issues and to recommend appropriate action to oversight and prosecutorial agencies.
