South Korean stars Kim Myung Soo and Choi Bo Min have been named tourism ambassadors for the Philippines as part of the effort to strengthen engagement with Korean travelers ahead of 2026.
The appointment was formalized on Dec. 14 during a Kapampangan lunch at Consuelo by Chef Vince Garcia in Clark, Pampanga, where the two stars signed a memorandum of understanding with Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines Chief Operating Officer Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles.
The ambassadors were chosen for their ongoing connection to the country, frequent visits, and publicly expressed admiration for Filipino culture and hospitality. Their two-day visit included outdoor leisure activities, cultural experiences, and local culinary highlights designed to showcase Clark’s appeal to Korean tourists.
The stars wore custom outfits by Filipino designer Avel Bacudio, featuring traditional motifs such as jeepneys, bahay kubo, and street vendors, crafted from abaca, piña, silk cocoon, and inabel textiles.

“Kim Myung Soo and Choi Bo Min embody the travel values that resonate with today’s Korean visitors—connection, balance, and genuine cultural experience,” Nograles said. She added that their engagement with local communities and traditions makes them natural ambassadors for the Philippines.
The visit began Dec. 13 with a morning golf session at Beverly Place Golf Club and an afternoon exploring Clark. On Dec. 14, they joined 4,300 runners at the PUMA Half Marathon in Filinvest Mimosa, appearing onstage for the opening ceremony and meeting fans at the TPB booth.
Kim Myung Soo said the trip showcased the warmth and energy of the Philippines.
“Clark is beautiful, easy to explore, and full of energy. I felt the warmth of the people everywhere we went,” he said.
Choi Bo Min described the city as “peaceful, friendly, and well-planned,” noting it brought a familiar sense of welcome during his return visit.
Their visit concluded with a Kapampangan lunch featuring local dishes such as pakbet, sinigang na baboy sa gabi, derang manuk, adobong pusit, lechon kawali, and fried hito with buro, highlighting the region’s culinary reputation.
TPB said the initiative is part of its strategy of combining cultural immersion, premium experiences, and strong partnerships with creative and industry leaders to position the Philippines as a top destination for international travelers.
