The Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) celebrated its 25th anniversary on November 27 with an event in Makati City, highlighting a quarter-century of delivering educational programs, early childhood initiatives, and community partnerships nationwide.
KCFI President and Co-Founder Rina Lopez reflected on the foundation’s growth from a pioneering educational cable channel to a national learning network that operates on-air, online, and offline. “We were guided by an audacious question: ‘What if we could harness media to democratize learning?’” she said.
The foundation has expanded programs in early childhood development, including Wikaharian, Ready, Set, Read!, MathDali, I Love You 1000, and the KCare Training Program, which equips teachers, child development workers, and caregivers with skills in early learning, health, and responsive care.
KCFI also highlighted its role in advocating for Republic Act 12199, which strengthens the country’s early childhood care system and improves professional standards for workers serving children aged 0–8.
Federico R. Lopez, KCFI’s chairman, said the foundation remains committed to educational equity, evidence-based teaching, and values-driven content. The foundation’s guiding learner values include responsibility, interdependence, compassion, empathy, community orientation, and fairness.

The anniversary event also introduced new initiatives, such as a Philippine-built offline learning hub for areas with limited internet access, the GenSPARKKY national movement to engage parents and communities in early childhood development, and the responsible integration of AI tools to support educators.
Lopez noted she has proposed a K–3 Foundational Learning and Nurturing Care Act to strengthen early literacy and numeracy in public schools.
During the event, KCFI honored 62 “Kampeon ng Edukasyon” awardees and recognized outstanding educators, including Gurong May K honorees Zarlina Bacadon and Jonathan Mayo.
The foundation’s programs received multiple accolades in 2025, including Best Children’s Program at the Asian Academy Creative Awards for Ready, Set, Read! and awards from the KBP Golden Dove Awards, NCCT, and Anak TV Seal Awards for shows like MathDali, Wikaharian, AgriKids, and Estudyantipid.
Lopez expressed gratitude to partners, donors, educators, and communities, emphasizing the foundation’s mission to expand learning opportunities for Filipino children. “Para sa mga bata. Para sa pamilya. Para sa komunidad. Para sa bayan. At higit sa lahat, para sa Diyos,” she said.
