The Makati City government has advised commuters and motorists to prepare for possible traffic gridlock due to road closures for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Parade of Stars on December 19.
The event is expected to draw large crowds, further complicating travel in the area.
“We advise motorists and commuters to prepare for traffic adjustments and possible heavy congestion during the parade. But rest assured that I have directed our Public Safety Department to help manage traffic and maintain safety and order,” said Mayor Nancy Binay.
The local government is now preparing for the parade, which will officially kick off the annual festival this year. Organizers recommend alternative routes and suggest allowing extra time for travel to avoid delays.
Binay expressed the city’s honor in serving as the host city for this year’s MMFF, inviting the public to join the celebration of Philippine cinema and witness the parade featuring the floats of the eight official movie entries.
“We are privileged to play host to the 51st MMFF, and we welcome all the stars who will participate in the parade and spread cheer to the public this Friday,” she said.
The parade route will pass through the heart of the Central Business District. Movie-themed floats will assemble at Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay City at 1:00 p.m. The procession will traverse key thoroughfares within Makati before culminating at Circuit Makati.
The official parade route includes the following major streets: Buendia Avenue, Ayala Avenue, Makati Avenue, JP Rizal Street, and A. Reyes Avenue.
Binay assured the public that her office has established close coordination with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the MMFF’s main organizer.
The parade organizers have also been asked to help manage traffic flow and ensure the safe execution of the event.
“We invite the public to come out, line the streets, and enjoy the festive atmosphere as the stars of the eight official entries ride their movie-themed floats. Let us support Philippine cinema,” Binay said.
The MMFF tradition continues its run, with all movie theaters across Metro Manila scheduled to screen the official MMFF entries from December 25, 2025, through the first week of January 2026.
