Boss Toyo introduces new Pinoy superhero ‘Raket Man’

Content creator and social media personality Boss Toyo is stepping into the world of storytelling with “Raket Man,” a short-film series inspired by the everyday grind, values, and resourcefulness of ordinary Filipinos.

The series centers on a familiar local concept of “raket,” or the many side hustles Filipinos take on to earn a living. Boss Toyo plays the lead character, a hardworking and kindhearted man whose willingness to help others leads to an unexpected twist when he gains superpowers and becomes “Raket Man.”

“It’s about the typical Filipino like us. Raket means finding ways to earn—diskarte sa buhay, trabaho, pagtitinda, anything just to make a living,” he said in an interview.

While the premise carries a superhero angle, Boss Toyo stressed that the story remains grounded in reality. The series reflects everyday life, from working for family to helping neighbors, themes he believes many viewers can easily relate to.

“This is inspired by ordinary Filipinos. People who work hard, value family, help others, and guide one another. Every Filipino will see themselves in this series,” Boss Toyo added.

He then said the idea came from a desire to revive the kind of local superhero stories he grew up watching. He cited classic Filipino characters like Lastikman, Darna, and Captain Barbell as influences, noting that few new homegrown superheroes have emerged in recent years.

“I asked myself, why not try to create a new hero that Filipinos can love? That’s how Raket Man was born,” he shared.

The project brings together a cast made up largely of fellow content creators and influencers, including his wife Joy, Princess Tan, Princess Loreto, Kiko Matos, Mommy Gangster, Aberya Thingz, and others. Boss Toyo created the story himself, with the script written by Rodfil of Moymoy Palaboy. He co-directed the series with Bryan Kier Dime, with Louie Ong serving as editor. Boss Toyo also produced the project.

Beyond entertainment, the creator hopes the series carries lessons rooted in values.

“I wanted to bring back what we grew up watching, an entertainment with good moral values. It shows the simple life of an ordinary Filipino,” he explained.

“Raket Man” is currently streaming on the Raketman Facebook page, as well as on YouTube via Bustoy Productions and on TikTok. While there are no immediate plans for a cinema release, Boss Toyo said the project is a “test run,” with the story already mapped out through five seasons.
