The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has finished reviewing and classifying the eight official entries for the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival, two weeks before Christmas.
Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto said the ratings reflect the board’s commitment to supporting local films while providing age-appropriate guidance for viewers.
Most of this year’s entries received G or PG ratings, making them suitable for family viewing with parental supervision when required.
The romantic film I’mPerfect by Sigrid Bernardo under Nathan Studios earned a G rating. It centers on the romantic relationship of two adults with Down syndrome.
Several films received PG ratings. Bar Boys: After School, a 10-year-later sequel to the 2017 film, stars Carlo Aquino, Rocco Nacino, Enzo Pineda, and Kean Cipriano and is directed by Kip Oebanda under 901 Studios Inc. Call Me Mother, directed by Jun Robles Rana and starring Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre, follows a queer single mother navigating complications in adopting her adoptive son.
Other PG-rated entries include Love You So Bad by Mae Cruz-Alviar, about a young girl torn between two young men; Manila’s Finest by Raymond Red, a 1969-set crime thriller starring Piolo Pascual and Enrique Gil; Rekonek by Jade Castro, exploring six families coping with a global internet outage; and Unmarry by Jeffrey Jeturian, which follows a couple navigating the dissolution of their marriage.
The horror anthology Shake, Rattle and Roll: Evil Origins, the 17th installment of the long-running series, received an R-13 rating, restricting admission to viewers 13 and older. The film follows a malevolent character across three distinct stories.
