The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will implement a road closure and a stop-and-go system to accommodate the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Parade of Stars in Makati on Friday.
The traffic scheme will be in place from 12:01 p.m. until 10 p.m. on the following thoroughfares: Macapagal Boulevard, Senator Gil Puyat Avenue, Ayala Avenue, Makati Avenue, J.P. Rizal Street, and A.P. Reyes Avenue.
Motorists will be made to stop intermittently on specific lanes to allow the parade to pass quickly before traffic resumes.
Movie-themed floats, tents, the starting holding area, and the main stage will occupy the northbound section of Macapagal Boulevard, while spectators at the parade’s starting point will gather on the southbound side of the road.
The MMDA will deploy at least 1,000 personnel, comprising traffic enforcers, motorcycle units, mobile patrol units, the towing and impounding group, the Road Emergency Group, the Public Safety Division, the Metro Parkways Clearing Group, and the Traffic Engineering Center.
Motorists are advised to plan their trips and use alternate routes.
Vehicles coming from Macapagal Boulevard, Mall of Asia, and the Cavite area are advised to take Seaside Boulevard, turn right at Diokno Boulevard, proceed straight to Atang De la Rama Street, turn right at Vicente Sotto Street, turn left at Jalandoni Street, then turn right at Pedro Bukaneg Street to reach their destination. Alternatively, motorists may take Diokno Boulevard, turn right at Gil Puyat Avenue Extension, turn left at Jalandoni Street, then turn right at Pedro Bukaneg Street.
Those going to Epifanio de los Santos Avenue via J.P. Rizal Avenue may take Rockwell and proceed to Kalayaan Avenue, which will be converted to one-way traffic.
The parade will pass through Buendia Avenue, Ayala Avenue, Makati Avenue, J.P. Rizal Street, and A. Reyes Avenue, and will end at Circuit Makati.
It will run for one hour and 40 minutes, covering a distance of 8.4 kilometers.
