RM says he considered BTS disbandment ahead of comeback

BTS leader RM said he has “wondered thousands of times” whether the group should disband or go on hiatus, as he opened up about the pressures surrounding their 2026 comeback.

On Friday, Dec. 6, during his Weverse live broadcast, RM admitted he has struggled under the weight of expectations as all seven members prepare to reunite next year following the completion of their mandatory military service.

“I want to perform right away, but preparing for it requires so much, and the personal pressure is huge,” he said.

He addressed questions about why the group did not pursue major activities in late 2025, saying only that “there were circumstances I can’t talk about,” and that he did not have “the right to explain everything.”

BTS announced in July that they would release a new album and launch a world tour in spring 2026. RM said the comeback album is finished and rehearsals are underway, though each member is anxious about how to move forward after years of change.

Despite his doubts, RM stressed the group remains united.

“The reason we’re still together is because of the love between the members and the respect we have for our fans. We will return,” he said.

Composed of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, BTS has accomplished their military duties early this year.
