Tom Rodriguez says he is genuinely happy for his ex-wife, Carla Abellana, after learning that she is now engaged to her non-showbiz partner.
The actor heard the news only this week while promoting UnMarry, his 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival entry.
Rodriguez, whose separation from Abellana was legally finalized last year, offered warm wishes for the couple.
“I wish her well, I wish them well. I’m glad to know everyone is moving on. We all deserve it,” he told reporters. “Everyone deserves happiness and we all deserve to move on and I’m glad we’re all moving on.”
He also reflected on his decision to accept UnMarry, admitting he hesitated at first because the story’s themes hit close to home. Still, the material drew him in.
“Pag nabasa mo, this is really good story na hindi mo mabitawan,” he said.
Rodriguez added that he now prefers to focus on his current family life after sharing glimpses of his partner and son last June. “For me, I like what I have now and I’d like to keep it that way.”
