Cotabato City—In line with the celebration of the 18 Day Campaign to End VAW, the United Nations Population Fund in the Philippines supported the Bangsamoro government in the launching of the iProtect System, a strengthened digital case management platform that transforms how gender-based violence (GBV), violence against women and children, and child protection cases are reported, referred, and managed across BARMM.
Developed under the leadership of the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), in consultation with agencies and with UNFPA’s technical and programmatic support, the enhanced iProtect System introduces key features such as standardized case registration, real-time case tracking, and an upgraded reporting and analytics module.
These enhancements empower frontline service providers to deliver faster, more coordinated, and more effective responses to survivors.
MSSD Minister Raissa H. Jajurie highlighted the strong leadership of the Ministry in advancing digital innovations for social protection, noting that the development of the iProtect Enhanced Version (iProtect EV) was made possible through close collaboration with UNFPA and on-the-ground support from UnYPhil.
“Through iProtect we can ensure timely and accountable service delivery for survivors, strengthen data-driven decision-making and program planning, and standardize referral pathways,” Jajurie said.
Neus Bernabeu, UNFPA Country Representative in the Philippines, emphasized the significance of the initiative
“Strong systems like iProtect make a real difference — they ensure that every survivor is seen, every case is recorded, and every response is quick, coordinated, and respectful. By using clear processes and reliable data, the system helps social workers and authorities respond better and faster,” Bernabeu said.
Other government offices such as the Office of the Chief Minister, Ministry of Interior and Local Government, Ministry of Indigenous Peoples Affairs, and the Philippine National Police expressed their solidarity and support to this initiative that ensures services for women, girls, and vulnerable populations are coordinated, rights-based, and accessible.
