FAST Logistics launches shared cross-docking service to cut delivery costs

FAST Logistics Group, a major provider of logistics solutions in the Philippines, announced a new system-guided cross-docking service, “Flow by FAST,” offering fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies potential savings of up to 32 percent compared to traditional direct-to-store delivery (DSD) methods.

The new facility near South Luzon modern trade retailers such as supermarkets and grocery stores consolidates multiple FMCG companies’ shipments. This allows companies to pay per space used rather than for full truckloads, addressing the widespread issue of uneconomical, half-empty trucks prevalent in DSD.

The move comes after an industry-wide study conducted by FAST in collaboration with the Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines (SCMAP) and major FMCG companies. The study found that 100 percent of participating FMCG companies use DSD, with 70 percent relying on it as their primary method, despite truck capacity utilization being only 30-52 percent.

“With Flow by FAST, every store delivery counts. No half-empty trucks, no wasted trips, no stockouts on shelves,” said Manuel Onrejas Jr., chief executive for logistics at FAST.

“Our goal is to help FMCG companies lower costs and reduce their carbon footprint while ensuring Filipino families have easy access to the nation’s leading brands,” said Onrejas.

Flow by FAST uses fixed departure schedules aligned with retailer receiving windows to ensure reliable product replenishment, especially critical during the holiday season. The system leverages FAST’s extensive network and real-time tracking for end-to-end visibility.

Onrejas said the solution is designed for companies willing to collaborate to achieve cost efficiency and a better flow of goods for retailers and consumers.

FAST operates the country’s largest warehouse footprint, spanning more than 2 million square meters, and a trucking fleet of over 3,100 units.
