PEZA, PPPI team up to enhance medicine access

The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and Philippine Pharma Procurement Inc. (PPPI) signed a memorandum of understanding on Nov. 27, 2025, to expand access to quality and affordable medicines and bolster the country’s pharmaceutical sector.

The agreement, signed by PEZA Director General Tereso Panga and PPPI president and chief executive Maria Blanca Kim Lokin, will support the development of pharmaceutical ecozones, strengthen supply chains and reinforce PPPI’s mandate to deliver safe, reliable and cost-effective medicines.

“This MOU reflects our strong commitment to a future where every Filipino receives the medicine and health care they deserve, and where the Philippines becomes a leader in pharmaceutical innovation,” Panga said.

He added that the collaboration underscores the government’s commitment to improving health care access and positioning the Philippines as a hub for pharmaceutical innovation.

Lokin said the partnership will help create an enabling environment for pharmaceutical manufacturing, innovation and distribution.

“By working together, we can create spaces where pharmaceutical innovation, manufacturing and distribution can thrive. Through PEZA, we can turn the vision of a world-class health care industry built here in the Philippines into a reality,” she said.

PPPI has laid the groundwork for its Pambansang Botika flagship program and a proposed Pharma Ecozone in Clark, initiatives aimed at further expanding the availability of affordable medicines nationwide.
