Manila Mayor Francisco Moreno Domagoso on Monday called out vandals following the ‘Baha sa Luneta 2.0’ rally staged in the capital city that was attended by an estimated crowd of over 3,000.
In his message, Domagoso expressed his disappointment after surveying several public places showing signs of vandalism.
“We have been saying repeatedly that we support freedom of expression, but not to vandalize the city. Despite our reminder, there are still those who vandalized the walls along Padre Burgos Street,” he said in Filipino.
The mayor tagged the vandals as among those calling for the ousting of President Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte.
He stressed that the city government will now have to earmark more public funds to rehabilitate public spaces that were destroyed or defaced.
Domagoso noted that while protesters were supposedly calling for proper disposition of public funds, their wanton disrespect for public property also caused its wastage.
