The Department of Transportation (DOTr), in collaboration with AF Payments Inc. (AFPI), held a white beep card caravan at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.
This initiative, which aligns with the President’s directive, aims to expedite the issuance of white beep cards to make commuting easier and allow more passengers to avail of the 50 percent fare discount on the LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 lines.
According to Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez, the caravan aims to reach more students and provide them with more convenient services so that they do not have to leave school.
“Because of this white beep card caravan, our students’ travel will be easier and less hassle for them, especially those who are pursuing classes. They will just load it and they will immediately be able to avail the 50 percent discount,” Lopez said.
According to PWD student Bella, the process of getting a white beep card is fast and convenient.
“This is good because they have an announcement, there is news about what will be done, just register and then you can get the card,” said Bella.
For senior citizen Mang Romuald, the 50 peace t discount on train fare is a big deal.
“It will definitely be a great help that the cost for other priorities that seniors spend on is reduced,” said Romuald.
The Benilde Student Government sincerely thanks the DOTr because the white beep card caravan has arrived at their university.
“We are very thankful. As students, given that the queues at the stations are quite difficult, at least the DOTr has reduced the government service to us,” said BSG President Jeus Fajardo.
The white beep card caravan will last at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde until 5pm tomorrow, November 27, where it is targeted to provide it to 360 students and 120 senior citizens and PWDs.
The caravan will continue to other colleges and universities in the coming weeks.
