Marcos announces P15-million grant to Baseco Hospital

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Thursday announced a fresh P15-million assistance package for the Baseco Hospital in Manila, saying the community facility needs stronger support as it handles a steady stream of patients each day.

During a visit to the Baseco Hospital, also known as President Corazon C. Aquino General Hospital, the President said the demand for public health services in Baseco reflects the persistent gap in medical access for many urban poor families.

“We see how essential these services are, especially for our people who rely on facilities like this… Every day, more or less 20 patients pass through here. Many benefit from the care you provide,” Mr. Marcos said.

“Let’s give them support… From the Office of the President, we are adding P15 million for Baseco Hospital. This will help address your requirements,” he added.

Local officials have repeatedly raised concerns about the hospital’s lack of resources, with staff often forced to stretch limited equipment and supplies to meet daily demand.

According to hospital executives, the new funding could help improve facilities, bolster staffing, and expand services for the densely populated coastal community.

Government agencies are also expected to begin coordinating with the hospital and the Manila city government to finalize how the assistance will be allocated.
