PH Embassy in Japan alerts public on misinformation

The Philippine Embassy in Japan urged Filipinos to be vigilant against misinformation and warned the public about a fake social media page impersonating its official account.

In a social media post on Thursday, November 20, the Embassy said that a fake page tends to repost misinformation from various government offices.

“Ang nasabing page ay nag-rerepost ng impormasyon mula sa iba’t ibang government offices at maaaring magdulot ng pagkalito,” the post read.

(The said page reposts supposed information from various government offices and may serve to confuse.)

The Embassy further urged Filipinos to report the page, avoid engaging with or sharing any of its posts, and to rely solely on official channels for accurate information.

Earlier this month, the embassies of Singapore, the Netherlands, and Kuwait issued an advisory against scams that use the embassy’s name to collect personal information from Filipino workers.
