ABS-CBN cut loss in third quarter

ABS-CBN Corp. said Monday its net loss fell 13 percent in the first nine months of 2025 with the growth of its content production and distribution segment and aggressive cost control measures.

The Lopez-led media company posted a net loss of P2.24 billion from January to September, an improvement from the P2.59 billion loss it logged in the same period last year. Excluding one-time items, the recurring consolidated net loss improved by 43 percent.

Consolidated operating costs and expenses totaled P13.52 billion, an 11-percent reduction year-on-year. ABS-CBN attributed this drop to the continuous implementation of cost control measures, which resulted in decreased general and administrative expenses as well as lower employee costs.

Total consolidated revenues in nine months ended September reached P11.75 billion, a 3-percent decline from the previous year’s P12.12 billion.

The company noted that while revenues from the content production and distribution segment increased by P1.13 billion on higher advertising and consumer revenue, this gain was offset by a P1.50 billion decline in the cable TV and broadband segment. The cable and broadband segment’s revenue drop was a result of a continued decline in subscriber base.
