President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos on Friday welcomed Hollywood actor and filmmaker George Clooney and international human-rights lawyer Amal Clooney during a courtesy visit at Malacañang Palace.
The couple established the Clooney Foundation for Justice in late 2016.
Their foundation has since become an active voice on global challenges to press freedom, civil liberties, and accountability.
The Clooneys are in Manila ahead of their appearance at the Social Good Summit 2025 on Nov. 16 in Pasay City, where they are expected to speak on threats to press freedom and shrinking democratic spaces, key areas of their advocacy.

Malacañang said Friday’s meeting was cordial and focused on shared interests in social-impact work, though no formal agreements were reached.
The Social Good Summit is expected to gather government leaders, civil society groups, and international advocates to highlight issues affecting democratic institutions worldwide.
