Workers in the Ilocos and Western Visayas regions will receive new wage increases starting November 19, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma announced.
Laguesma said the wage hike will help nearly 390,000 minimum wage earners cope with rising costs ahead of the holidays. The new orders were approved by the National Wages and Productivity Commission on October 29.
In the Ilocos Region, daily pay will rise to ₱505 for large firms and ₱480 for smaller businesses and farm workers. Western Visayas rates will increase to ₱550 for big firms, ₱525 for smaller ones, and ₱520 for agriculture.
Household helpers will also get a boost, with monthly pay rising by ₱700 to ₱6,700 in Ilocos and by ₱500 to ₱6,500 in Western Visayas.
An estimated 758,000 other salaried workers earning above the minimum wage may indirectly benefit from adjustments correcting pay distortions.
