Caritas Philippines on Thursday clarified that it is neither involved in nor endorsing any rally or public gathering reportedly set for November 16 to 18.
The statement was made by Caritas Philippines president and Kidapawan Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo amid reports of a large-scale protest organized by Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) at Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park, expected to draw around 300,000 participants.
Meanwhile, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has urged the faithful to join a nationwide bloodletting drive on November 15, organized by Bombo Radyo Philippines in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross.
Dubbed “Dugong Bombo 2025: A Little Pain… A Life to Gain,” the activity will be held simultaneously in 25 key cities nationwide.
CBCP president Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David endorsed the initiative, saying it embodies the Christian values of charity, compassion, and solidarity.
“Every drop of blood donated is a concrete expression of love for one’s neighbor,” David said, encouraging dioceses, parishes, and Catholic institutions to support the cause by promoting blood donation and spreading awareness.
He added that the campaign serves as a meaningful act of hope and generosity as the Church celebrates the Jubilee Year of Hope.
David likewise called on the faithful to “unite in prayer and action” in support of efforts that save lives and bring healing to others.
Meanwhile, the CBCP’s humanitarian, development, and advocacy arm invited the public to join the Trillion Peso March Movement for a peaceful rally on November 30 at the EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City.
“Filipinos will no longer stay silent against corruption. With one voice and one message, let us continue to denounce corruption and demand for justice, transparency, and accountability,” Caritas Philippines posted.
